A graduate of Sentinel Secondary School in West Vancouver, she has received ten years of dance training including programs at the Anna Wyman School of Dance Arts and MainDance, as well as summer sessions at the Banff Centre and the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, DC. She will use her Hnatyshyn Foundation grant to continue her training at the School of Toronto Dance Theatre where she has just completed her first year in the three-year Professional Training Program.
According to Patricia Fraser, Artistic Director of the School of Toronto Dance Theatre, "This young artist definitely has the potential for a stellar career in dance, as well as the capability to influence the art form of contemporary dance through her stature as an interpreter. Megan is a bright spirit with beautiful interpretive skills, - strong, passionate, a risk-taker, and full of fire."
The Hnatyshyn Foundation contemporary dance jury, composed of David Earle, Anne Flynn and Michael Montanaro, praised Megan's solid technique, outstanding musicality and vitality. "Here is a beautiful dancer capable of combining flow and control with exuberance and passion, delivering a performance that was a joy to watch. She has amazing potential."
