Lucas Waldin

Canadian conductor Lucas Waldin currently serves as Resident Conductor of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Appointed in 2009, he will lead the Edmonton Symphony in over 15 concerts during the 2011/12 season. Waldin has collaborated with some of North America's finest artists, including Sergei Babayan, Chantal Kreviazuk and Jens Lindemann, and has shared the podium with conductors such as William Eddins, Steven Reineke, and Robert Bernhardt.

Making frequent appearances on the main subscription series, Waldin is also passionate about education and community outreach. The 2011/12 season will see Waldin programming and presenting educational and family concerts that will reach nearly 30,000 students in the Edmonton area.

In addition to his training at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Lucas Waldin has conducted in masterclasses with Helmuth Rilling, Michael Tilson-Thomas, Colin Metters, and Bernard Haitink.

Prior to his appointment as Resident Conductor of the Edmonton Symphony, Waldin was Director and Founder of the Cleveland Bach Consort, Assistant Conductor of Cleveland's contemporary orchestra {RED}, and was a Discovery Series Conductor at the Oregon Bach Festival. Waldin has also worked with a number of orchestras across Europe and North America, including the Staatstheater Cottbus, l'Orchestre du Festival Beaulieu-sur-Mer, and both the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and BBC Scottish Symphony at the St. Magnus Festival.
