Anne Rapson, violinist Anne Rapson has played an integral role in the multi-faceted musical life of Halifax for the past 33 years. Before coming to Halifax to become Concertmaster of the Atlantic Symphony in 1979, Anne began her orchestral career as a member of both the Toronto and Vancouver Symphonies. She has also performed with the National Ballet Orchestra, the National Arts Center Orchestra and Esprit Contemporain amongst others.
Anne holds the Associate Concertmaster chair with Symphony Nova Scotia, was a founding member and frequent soloist over the years, and has also added these credits to her activities: violinist in the popular Rhapsody Quintet as well as the Rapson/Walt Duo and SoloAnnie, enthusiastic and successful violin teacher, well-known adjudicator at music festivals in the Maritimes and elsewhere, past jury member of organizations such as NS Talent Trust and the Hnatyshyn Foundation, board member of local arts groups, and passionate chamber musician.
Rhapsody Quintet will release its 6th CD this fall, entitled "PASSION". All six CDs are available on iTunes.
In her private life Anne is grandmother of three, an avid reader and lover of nature and philosophy. She resides in central Nova Scotia with clarinetist, John Rapson.
