Eligible level of studies:
Nominees for the classical voice grant must be undertaking studies at the graduate level.
For grants 2 to 4, candidates must be entering the first or second year of an undergraduate music program at a qualified Canadian post-secondary institution.
Nominees for the classical ballet grant must be entering a post-secondary program at a qualified Canadian training institution or an apprenticeship with a professional Canadian ballet company.
For the contemporary dance grant, candidates must be entering the second year of an undergraduate program at a qualified Canadian post-secondary institution.
Candidates for the acting grants must be entering the final year of an undergraduate program at a qualified Canadian post-secondary institution.
Eligibility criteria:
Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. For undergraduate level grants, candidates must be nominated by the Canadian post-secondary institution at which they will be studying. For the graduate grant in classical voice, a candidate can be nominated by a university, training institution or recognized teacher anywhere in the world.
Adjudication process: Grants will be awarded on the basis of exceptional promise for a distinguished career in performance. Expert adjudicators in each discipline will evaluate the nominees based on audition tapes.
Use of the grants: The money can cover tuition, living expenses, books and materials required by the program of study, with the exception of musical instruments.
Responsibilities of recipients: Candidates can be nominated by only one institution; must use the grant for the sole purpose for which it was approved; must return unused funds to the Foundation if studies are abandoned.
Responsibilities of the institutions: Institutions can nominate no more than one candidate per discipline per year.
