FOUNDATION STRUCTURE

The Hnatyshyn Foundation is federally incorporated as a registered charity. The Foundation's Board of Directors oversees policy, allocation of funds and investment of endowment income.

An Executive Director, with an Administrative Assistant, manages and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Foundation.

Artists and representatives of art institutions, drawn from all regions of the country, provide advice on grant applications and selections.

Executive Director - Dawn M. Firestone

Dawn Firestone received her university education at Carleton University in Ottawa in the Integrated Science Studies program, majoring in Biology, with a minor in French. She speaks English, French and Spanish.

After a seven-year career in research science, both in the private and public sectors, she worked as a consultant with Telecom Canada in Ottawa in Public Relations, where she oversaw the development and production of communication and marketing materials for a national line of data service products, including involvement in trade shows and other national events. 

From 1999 - 2009, she worked for Bell Canada in the Community Development and Corporate Communications group, contributing to the development and promotion of several national sponsorship programs, including the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards, Opera Lyra Ottawa, CyberTip.ca, Kids Help Phone and the Ottawa launch of Bell's support for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.

Dawn is married to Dr. Bruce M. Firestone, Founder of the Ottawa Senators; together they have five children.
