Call for artists: The 2026 DARC Indigenous Residency

May 26, 2026

The Hnatyshyn Foundation is proud to support the third year of the DARC Indigenous Residency, a one-month intensive on-site artist residency offered to mid-career Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) media artists who are seeking to develop their current practice, experiment with a new medium, or continue an existing project.

The residency will take place at the Digital Arts Resource Centre (DARC) in Ottawa. The program is now open for applications from Indigenous artists living across Canada.

The residency provides access to DARC's facilities and equipment, up to 16 hours of consultation with an artistic advisor, an honorarium of $2,500, and an honorarium of $520 for an artist talk or presentation. Out-of-town recipients are also granted a housing subsidy of up to $1,500 as well as reimbursement for up to $1,750 in travel expenditures.

Submission deadline: June 30, 2026

Residency dates: October 1-31, 2026.

DARC will hold an information session for prospective applicants on June 10, 2026 at 12pm ET. Register for this session on DARC’s website.

The Hnatyshyn Foundation and DARC look forward to providing more opportunities for, and promoting the work of, incredible artists from across Turtle Island. For more details on the application process and support provided to participating artists, please see DARC’s website.
